In September 2025, BFI delivered a presentation at the Steel Academy in Düsseldorf, Germany, as part of the specialist training course organized under the German Landfill Ordinance “Landfill in the Steel Industry.”
The course targeted professionals responsible for the management and supervision of landfill operations in the iron and steel industry.
BFI’s presentation examined how the ongoing transformation of the steel industry is reshaping material flows and creating new challenges for landfill management including first insight and findings of our EU-funded multi-partner-project TransZeroWaste.
Our project’s contribution at the Steel Academy underlined the value of knowledge transfer and continuous training in preparing landfill operators for a changing industry landscape. Engaging with practitioners provided an opportunity to share perspectives on evolving material flows and to explore how landfill management practices must adapt.
As part of the TransZeroWaste consortium, we remain committed to actively supporting the industry on its path towards greater sustainability and circularity.
